Hello Visitor,
Today I’d like to share a story about an interaction I had in my daytime role as Network Administrator that relates to my feelings on web design.
I was meeting with a fellow who was pitching a multimedia solution. During his presentation he mentioned that the solution included professionally designed templates which are easy for anyone to use so companies didn’t need to have “a creative” on staff. I chuckled a bit inside. Now in fairness, I was speaking to him as a Network Administrator and we aren’t expected to have creative talents, so we can’t fault him for not knowing that he was also talking to someone who would never suggest that her employer use a template of any kind.
It takes talent and a broad understanding of what people want to create website templates that will be used again and again by hundreds of different businesses, there is no question about that, but we choose to leave that work to others. We feel that each business deserves its own unique style for the web and this is how we choose to approach our design projects. Clients who work with us directly get the very special attention needed for us to develop a design that suits the tone of the business, and we will never re-use a design that we’ve already published.
Here at Tech Lizard Web Design and IT, we don’t care for labels (we prefer tags) but if a label fits us, then we accept “a creative” and all of the implications that go along with it.

Since the launch, Verette Construction has received a number leads for new business and we’re happy to be a part of their continued success.
Pending Permission
It’s with great pride that I announce that my daytime employer has acknowledged my web design abilities and has asked me to be a part of a new design for the company!
Our marketing staff prepared a design concept and I was asked to prepare the web graphics and to code the concept, creating templates that will serve as the basis for each page on the new site. Creating the templates was one of the most interesting parts of this project. We create templates based upon our designs for static websites all the time, however this time careful consideration was needed to design templates that were very user friendly. I think we did a great job in this effort, but as perfectionists, ideas for ease of use improvements continue to flow.
The new site hasn’t been published yet, but when it is I hope to get approval to include it in our portfolio. The design is a work of art that we can’t take credit for, but making the idea come to life is definitely another kind of art so we’d be thrilled to add it to our website.
Time to Hop Along
According to the acorn dropping oaks in our yard, fall is near. While we love summer, we enjoy fall for its cooler days, beautiful colors, Sunday football, and planning for the holidays. We hope you too can find the joy in the seasons change while others may mumble.
Our best to you,
Michele Gilhouse
